Weather Emergency Policy

Be Prepared for Severe Weather

Patient care is our first priority, so each of our hospitals maintain all patient care responsibilities and do not close during a weather emergency. To minimize disruptions to operations, be prepared to report to work. Review the policies in the latest Inside Hopkins weather policy special edition. Be sure to check with your manager about the role you should play in a weather emergency.

Updates about operational changes, closures and delayed openings for faculty and staff of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine will be posted on this site. You can also call the university and hospital weather hotline at 410-516-7781, or at 800-548-9004 from outside the Baltimore area, for weather-related updates.

If you work at All Children's Hospital, Howard County General Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Johns Hopkins HealthCare or Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, check with your manager for more details about your organization's weather policy and on your organization's website for more information.

News Updates

March 5, 8 a.m.

Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union will be closed today, March 5, due to the snow and resulting road conditions. All electronic credits and debits will be processed and checks will be posted. Wire requests and DeposZip processing may be delayed. Members can continue to access their accounts via online banking, mobile banking, TeleBranch24 and ATMs.

March 5, 7 a.m.

Last night a local news station mistakenly reported weather related closings for the Johns Hopkins Hospital Outpatient Center, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Wilmer Eye Institute and possibly others. This is not accurate and it was corrected as soon as it was noticed. All locations are open.

We are working closely with the local television stations to ensure that this error does not occur again.
