Dear Client,

There have been a number of personnel changes in the JHU School of Medicine divisional Human Resources office that I would like to bring to your attention. Don't hesitate to call me if you have any questions or comments at all.

- Paulette Hynson has been reclassified to Assistant Director of Employment and Staff Relations.

- Ron Basener, MBA, of course, remains in his position of Assistant Director. His title has been expanded to Assistant Director Staff and Labor Relations to recognize his involvement with both bargaining unit employees and non-bargaining unit staff relations.

- Paulette will continue to serve as the manager of our employment function. Her new title recognizes the contributions in the employee relations area that Paulette has made and will continue making. This action also reflects the very heavy employee relations volume experienced by this divisional HR office. Ron can be reached at 5-2034 and Paulette at 5-7522.

- Marcy Halvorsen has been with the SoM HR office since 1983, and was with JHH prior to that time. She has served as the School of Medicine Payroll and Records Manager for many years. Marcy is retiring at the end of this fiscal year. Marcy is viewed by many as the ultimate expert on JHU payroll and related matters. I share this point of view and am deeply saddened to see her move on. She will be missed by many. While there will never be another Marcy, Shawn Celio is now in place as the Payroll/Records Manager and is quickly learning the processes and systems. Shawn offers many valuable assets, including a strong educational background (MBA) and several years of generalist experience in a variety of settings, including Lockheed Martin and NIDA/NIH. Call Shawn on 5-5973. If possible, Marcy will continue working on a limited basis in the future with us.

- Bonnie Guralnick, MBA, was promoted to the position of Compensation Manager last year, after having been a Sr. Compensation Analyst with the SoM HR office since 1984. Bonnie's number is 5-2580.

- Helen Dunne joined our divisional office recently as a promotion from the Homewood campus. Helen had several years experience working with the compensation director and university system at Homewood prior to coming to East Baltimore as a Compensation Analyst. Helen is at 5-6944.

- Linda Shinagawa also recently accepted an offer to become a Sr. Compensation Analyst after having been a compensation specialist for the Hopkins Hospital Human Resources Office since 1998. Prior to that, Linda was at Westinghouse for several years. Linda can be reached at 4-7308.
