Dear Colleagues:

The Department of Defense is requiring full electronic submission of applications for its Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (http://cdmrp.army.mil/), which include research in the areas of breast, ovarian and prostate cancer, tuberous sclerosis complex, and neurofibromatosis.

Because DoD is mandating that the final proposal be submitted not by the Principal Investigator but by the sponsored research offices at universities, the School of Medicine's Office of Research Administration will enforce strict deadlines for proposal submission under these programs. Departments must have both the routed paper version (with signed SOM information sheet) and the final electronic version (PDF format) to Research Administration three working days prior to each DoD deadline, as detailed below. The PDF file should be emailed to the appropriate sponsored research administrator for the investigator's department (click on this link for list: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/research/admin_list.html)

Investigators should be aware that their departments also will enforce their own deadlines for materials in order to meet ORA requirements. These deadlines will vary from two to five working days, and investigators should consult early with their department administrators to ensure timely submission of application materials. Investigators also must register with the CDMRP program prior to applying, and at that time the Investigator should enter the correct data for the Sponsored Research Administrator responsible for his or her department.

PROSTATE CANCER

Dept. of Defense Receipt Deadline: Tuesday, May 14
ORA Deadline: 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.
Departmental Deadline: Varies from 2 to 5 working days prior to May 8, depending on the department

Dept. of Defense Receipt Deadline: Thursday, May 16
ORA Deadline: 5 p.m., Friday, May 10.
Departmental Deadline: Varies from 2 to 5 working days prior to May 10, depending on the department

BREAST CANCER Program Announcement I

Dept. of Defense Receipt Deadline: Wednesday, August 21
ORA Deadline: 5 p.m. Thursday, August 15.
Departmental Deadline: Varies from 2 to 5 working days prior to August 15, depending on the department
