August 21, 2002

Dear Faculty Member:

This is an urgent appeal from the Medical School Admissions Office. We invite you to attend one (or more) of our luncheons with applicants for the first year class entering in September, 2003. Beginning September 12, every Thursday and Friday during the academic year, a group of applicants will be joined by Johns Hopkins faculty and students for a casual lunch and conversation. These luncheons enable applicants to become better acquainted with Hopkins in a relaxed atmosphere free of interview pressures. Applicants often tell us that meeting informally with the faculty is a highlight of their visit, and therefore key to our enterprise.

Please call Beverly Kail in the Admissions Office at 2-6204 (410-502-6204) to schedule a date or dates when you can come to lunch. The luncheons are held from noon until 1 p.m. in the Admissions Office Conference Room 119 of the Jefferson Street Building in the main hospital (behind the Flower Shop). We know you will enjoy meeting the applicants, and your participation is essential to recruiting exceptional students to Hopkins.

It is only one hour of your time! Thank you and best wishes.

Sincerely,

James L. Weiss, M.D.
