October 9, 2002

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Barbara Cook as President of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. Dr. Cook has done an excellent job as the Acting President, following Bill Kent's departure. Prior to that, she served ably as Vice President for Medical Affairs of this primary care organization.

As President, Dr. Cook will have responsibility for the management of 100 primary care providers and more than 550 staff distributed across 18 sites throughout the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland.

A subsidiary of the Johns Hopkins Health System, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians' mission is to improve the health of people in this region by providing affordable, high quality, primary and secondary care through an integrated system of health services. Johns Hopkins Community Physicians serves diverse patient groups: a large medical assistance population, beneficiaries of the Department of Defense, and a growing number of people with commercial insurance.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Cook on the occasion of this well-earned promotion.

Sincerely,

Ronald R. Peterson

President
Johns Hopkins Health System
The Johns Hopkins Hospital
