August 5, 2003

Dear Colleagues:

I promised to keep you in the loop as we make changes affecting the JHM IRB office. In September, the JHM IRB East Baltimore office will be moving from the Turner Building to Reed Hall. The Reed Hall space is a vast improvement over the current crowded conditions in the Turner offices and will help us serve you better.

To allow IRB staff sufficient time to prepare for and complete the move, we are canceling all JHM IRB meetings during the weeks of August 11-15 and September 8-12. In addition, the JHM IRB offices will be closed from September 5-9 for the actual move. We need to close the offices to allow time for the files to be relocated to Reed Hall, and for computers and phones to be installed.

If you are planning to submit an application or amendment to the JHM IRB within the next two months, please try to allow a couple of extra weeks for processing-- in other words, submit it sooner rather than later. The IRB staff is working hard to make this a smooth transition and we appreciate your assistance as we make this move.

We will keep you posted on additional details about the move. Once again, thanks for your understanding and patience.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Klag, M.D., M.P.H.
Vice Dean for Clinical Investigation
