September 5, 2003

Dear Colleagues:

As I mentioned in my letter of August 5, I want to keep you informed of changes affecting the JHM IRB office. The move date for the East Baltimore OHSR has been postponed for one week. The new move date is Monday, September 15. The East Baltimore offices will now be open from September 5 - 9, but will close for three consecutive days beginning Monday, September 15. During this time, staff will be reorganizing office space, files will be relocated, and computers and phones will be installed and reconnected. Unfortunately, therefore, you will be unable to reach them. The East Baltimore office will reopen for limited service related to critical issues on September 18 & 19. The Bayview IRB office will be open and available to accept calls on exceptionally urgent issues at 410-550-1853.

IRBs 1, 2, 3, and X will not meet from September 15 to 19. IRB 5 will hold its scheduled meeting on September 15, 2003.

The new address for the Office of Human Subjects Research is 1620 McElderry Street, Reed Hall, Suite B-130, Baltimore, MD 21205. It is located in the basement of Reed Hall. The phone numbers will remain the same. There will be a receptionist at the entrance to the suite who can assist faculty and staff with questions. The office hours will change effective September 22, 2003. Walk-ins will be accepted from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. only. A mail drop will also be available at the guard's desk on the first floor.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Klag, M.D., M.P.H.
Vice Dean for Clinical Investigation
