Remembering the Past; Facing the Future

Dear Colleagues:

The first Town Meeting of the academic year is noon to 1 p.m., this Thursday, September 11 – the second anniversary of 9/11. We'll remember that day with prayer. Then we'll turn our attention to some current challenges closer to home: redeveloping our East Baltimore neighborhood and proving to the ACGME that its action against our internal medicine residency program should be reconsidered.

Jack Shannon, the dynamic new head of East Baltimore Development Inc. (EBDI), will bring you up to date on action to launch the redevelopment, including construction of the biotech park. Drs. David Nichols and Levi Watkins will fill you in on where we are with ACGME and what we need to do to make sure we sail through any future site visits. You'll also have a chance to meet Dr. Peter McDonnell, new director of the Wilmer Eye Institute.

Should be quite a meeting. Please plan to be there.

Sincerely,

Edward D. Miller, M.D Ronald R. Peterson
Dean of Medical Faculty/CEO
Johns Hopkins Medicine
President
The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System
