June 2, 2004

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that the 2004 Employee Recognition Celebration will be held September 20 - September 24, 2004. One of the many highlights of this week-long celebration is the Awards Ceremony. As part of this ceremony, the 2004 Baker-King Awards will be presented.

The Baker-King Foundation established a fund to recognize employees in non-exempt, non-supervisory positions. The Baker-King Awards are presented to employees who have been truly outstanding in the performance of their duties, and who have thus set an example for everyone at the Hospital. Each recipient will receive a $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond, a Baker-King pin, and a citation. Over sixty nominations were received last year, with twenty-nine employees being honored.

A nomination form with guidelines is attached, and I encourage you to participate by nominating your outstanding employees. Feel free to nominate more than one employee if you feel they are deserving of recognition. As in the past, all nomination forms are to be signed by the employee's supervisor. The nominees are to be forwarded by functional unit Administrator/Director to the Employee Recognition Committee for review and selection.

Please take the time to nominate your employees for the 2004 Baker-King Awards and return your completed nomination forms to Nicole Dubé, Phipps 446B, no later than Friday, June 25. If you have any questions, please call Nicole at 614-3721.

Thank you for taking the time to see that your outstanding employees are getting the recognition they deserve. I look forward to seeing you at the Awards Ceremony!

Sincerely,

Pamela D. Paulk
Vice President, Human Resources
Johns Hopkins Health System
The Johns Hopkins Hospital
