Dear JHU Faculty, Staff and Students:

Don't waste time at the mailbox waiting for your W-2 to be delivered.
If you haven't already, register now to receive your 2004 W-2
electronically!
***
Form W-2 is the Wage and Tax Statement that employees receive from JHU
each year. The W-2 contains important tax information that is used in
the preparation of individual federal and state income tax returns.

** Note: If you consented to receive your W-2 electronically for 2003,
you need do nothing. You're already registered.

If you have not consented, you can go to the Web and register to
receive your W-2 online. If you decide to receive your W-2 online, you
will not receive a paper copy in the mail. When your W-2 is available,
you will receive an e-mail notification along with instructions for
accessing it via the Web.

To sign up to receive your W-2 online:

* Simply go to http://www.w2express.com (a secure Web Site).

* Select Johns Hopkins University by typing in "Johns" in the login
box or by following the instructions at the link, "Find employer
name."

* Log in to your account by entering:
-Your Social Security number
-Your default eight digit PIN: the middle two digits of your Social
Security number, XXX-XX-XXXX, and your complete birth date in the form
MMDDYY, (for example, if your Social Security number is 814-49-5731 and
your birth date is July 22,
1948, your PIN would be 49072248)

** Note: You will be required to change the PIN the first time you log
in.

* An optional pin reset feature is available to save you time in the
event of a forgotten pin.

* Select "sign-up for online delivery of your original W-2."

* Read the disclosure and complete the electronic consent form.

You will be asked to provide the following information in order to
provide consent:

- E-mail address
- Mailing address
- Home/work phone number
***
When will your W-2 be available?

Your W-2 will be posted on a secure Web site in mid to late January,
before you would normally receive it in your mailbox at home. An e-mail
notification along with instructions for retrieval will be sent when the
forms are posted. Electronically furnished W-2s are available for
download for the balance of the tax year and may also be imported
directly into tax software such as TurboTax and TaxCut.

You may choose at any time to receive your W-2 online. However, any
election made on or after January 17, 2005, will be regarded as consent
for the next year and your current year W-2 will be mailed to you.
Withdrawal of your consent can be done at any time.

If you choose not to receive your W-2 online, a paper form W-2 will be
mailed directly to your home address, so please review your pay stub to
be sure your address is listed correctly. Any address changes should be
submitted to your Department Payroll Administrator as soon as possible
so your W-2 will be mailed to the proper address.

If you have any questions, please e-mail the Tax Office at
tax@jhu.edu.

Sincerely,

Jerry G. Bridges
