Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel B. Smith as the President of Johns Hopkins Home Care Group. Dan has been with JHHS 22 years. In 1983 he started with the Johns Hopkins team assigned to assess the viability of acquiring what was then Baltimore City Hospitals, now Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Dan remained at JHBMC in numerous positions in Finance for 12 years, ultimately becoming the Senior Director of Finance.

In 1995, Dan joined the JHHS Finance team as the Senior Director of Finance for Budget Development and Financial Analysis. During this time he was instrumental in overseeing the JHH Budget Process, Financial Analysis of JHM Business Plans and implementation of the Eclipsys Cost Accounting/Decision Support System. In addition to those duties, in 2001 Dan assumed the position as CFO for the Johns Hopkins Home Care Group (JHHCG).

In April, 2004 he stepped in as the Acting President of JHHCG. This past year under Dan's leadership, significant enhancements in quality and safety have been implemented by Johns Hopkins Home Care Group's leadership and staff. He assumed the position of President/CEO of JHHCG effective March 15, 2005.
