Best of the Best 2005

July 12, 2005

Dear Colleagues:

I am thinking of writing a book about doing well by doing good
featuring (exclusively if I can get enough material) moving stories from
Johns Hopkins about people who go out of their way to give back. For
example,

1. Tom Clancy's Kyle Hagood professorship story
2. The most amazing gift I've had the pleasure of recognizing -- the
$50 gift from the 10 year old for the Oncology Center
3. The church choir from East Baltimore that sings every year at
Christmas in the dome in recognition of the free care given to one of their
parishoners many years ago...

I used this theme for my Commencement speech in June and the thought
crossed my mind that there are probably hundreds more. I am looking for
details on these 3 stories, but hopefully many more to choose from. Do
you have some vignettes to pass along? Please send them to wrbrody@jhu.edu.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks and best wishes,
William R. Brody
