Best of the Best 2005

October 5, 2005

Dear Colleague:

We've all heard the cry for help from the people of the Gulf Coast . And, very likely, many of you quickly responded to the plea with generous financial contributions and in–kind donations. It is, and will continue to be, a great need that deserves our attention and support. It is also important that we not forget about the needs of so many people here close to home--in Maryland, in Baltimore and in our Hopkins community.

Fortunately, by supporting the efforts of the United Way of Central Maryland, we can make a difference in our own community, as well as among those suffering as a result of the hurricane devastation. This help is not possible, however, without the ongoing support of organizations, such as Johns Hopkins, and individuals like you.

Please consider participating in the Johns Hopkins Medicine 2005 United Way of Central Maryland Campaign. If you gave to the United Way last year, we sincerely thank you and ask that you consider increasing your pledge this year if affordable. If you have never participated, please reconsider and know that whatever amount you are able to give matters.

Next week, you can expect to receive detailed United Way information and your personalized pledge form. The campaign officially kicks off October 10, 2005.

We'd also like to call attention to a variety of special campaign events. For those with completed campaign pledge forms in hand, a complimentary hot dog lunch or dinner will be provided on October 14 in Turner Plaza . And, if you miss these opportunities, a second lunch will be available on October 21. Details about these events and the campaign overall will be made available at www.hopkinsmedicine.org/unitedway.

We sincerely thank you for your contribution.
