Best of the Best 2005

September 11, 2006

Dear Colleagues:

Over the last year, there have been major revisions to the Gold Book (policies for faculty appointments and promotions) that make the promotion process more flexible. There have also been additions to the Silver Book (professional development guide) to provide clarity and direction for faculty promotion pathways.

To learn how these changes affect your promotion and benefit your academic career, please plan to attend a special forum scheduled for Sept. 14. Edward Miller, dean/CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, Argye Hillis and Laura Sterni, chairs of the Medical School Council, and I will discuss the revisions and additions and answer your questions.

The forum will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Hurd Hall on the East Baltimore campus, and via closed circuit TV in Carroll Auditorium and in the Asthma & Allergy Center on the Bayview campus. All faculty are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Janice Clements, Ph.D.
Vice Dean for Faculty
