Barbara Cook to Retire

Dear Colleagues:

Barbara Cook, president of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, has announced that she will retire from her post next January. During the past six years, her vision, leadership and commitment have taken the organization through many positive changes.

Under her tenure, JHCP has not only achieved firm financial footing but also improved its patient satisfaction scores. As a physician leader who has chosen to lead by example, Barbara has dedicated herself to the mission of serving patients as competently and compassionately as possible. It’s a goal she continues to embody. In addition to her myriad administrative duties, Barbara uses her bilingual skills to treat Hispanic patients in the East Baltimore Medical Center. She plans to continue this work even after she retires.

We’re delighted that she will still be part of the Hopkins family as she spends more time visiting her grandchildren, traveling and pursuing other interests.

We’ve established a committee (Steve Thompson is chairing it) to identify her successor.
