From Ed Miller and Ronald Peterson:

Congratulations from Governor Martin O'Malley
We are pleased to share this personal message from Governor O’Malley. Thanks again to each of you.

Dear Friends:

On behalf of the people of our One Maryland, I want to congratulate everyone who has worked to ensure that, for the 19th year in a row, The Johns Hopkins Hospital remains at the top of U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of American hospitals.

In addition to the # 1 Hospital ranking, Hopkins is ranked…

  • 1st in Ear, Nose and Throat, Rheumatology and Urology
  • 2nd in Geriatric Care, Gynecology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry
  • 3rd in Cancer, Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders, Digestive Disorders, Heart and Heart Surgery, and Respiratory Disorders
  • 5th in Orthopedics; and
  • 6th in Kidney Disorders

The physicians, researchers, nurses, and staff have demonstrated what can happen when, together, we invest in the skills and ingenuity of our people. It’s an inspiration that even in difficult times Hopkins Hospital maintains a standard of excellence that allows Maryland to be home to the best patient care in the nation.

Thanks to your hard work and diligence, you have proven that Hopkins is more than just a hospital—it is a community of care. The standard of care delivered at Hopkins has become the envy of the world, and thanks to the service of the dedicated professionals at Hopkins, you will continue to lead the way in promoting health and preventing disease worldwide.

Your work to improve public health is vital to our efforts in expanding care to more Marylanders rather than fewer, and promoting healthy lifestyles for our families and children. I would like to commend you for your leadership and dedicated service to the citizens of this State, as we work toward this goal together as One Maryland.

Sincerely,
