Yes, You Can Make a Difference

Dear Colleagues,

As Johns Hopkins Medicine launches its United Way campaign today, we once again look to you to continue your generous support of this organization that assists so many individuals and families in need. This year’s theme, “Give Hope. Live United.” reminds us that we can make a difference in the lives of those who struggle to meet the most basic needs—food, shelter, eviction prevention, child care and access to health care.

Did you know that $5 per month supplies 6 lbs. of fresh produce to a hungry family each week for one year? Last fall, United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM) launched a three-year project to substantially increase access to healthy and affordable food across central Maryland. With your donation to United Way, we can help to sustain this effort.

Johns Hopkins Medicine has established a collective goal of $1.67 million—about 2 percent more than last year’s. Given the phenomenal response to previous campaigns and your commitment to helping others, we’re optimistic that we’ll achieve this goal.

Please help us do our part to help United Way of Central Maryland, their impact partners and dozens of health and human service organizations that need our monetary contributions to continue their important work. Keep in mind that your donation may be applied to your preferred organization.
To stay informed about fun activities and track our progress, be sure to regularly visit hopkinsmedicine.org/unitedway.

Don’t forget to join us for our first Food Truck Frenzy, which will be held on various JHM campuses on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A fleet of food trucks will be offering a variety of menu items. Portions of the proceeds will be applied to the United Way campaign. For the first time, JHM and the entire University are collaborating on this kickoff event, so proceeds will benefit both campaigns. The combined campaign goal for the entire institution is $2.2 million. As you enjoy a delicious meal of your choosing, we hope you will take the next step and donate to the campaign to benefit those who may not know where their next meal is coming from.

Thank you for your support.
