Kimberly Sherbrooke Named Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians

Dear Colleagues,

It is with much enthusiasm that I announce that Kim Sherbrooke will join Johns Hopkins Medicine as vice president and chief operating officer of the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians on July 6. In this important role, Kim will oversee the ambulatory operations of sites where Johns Hopkins-employed physicians practice.  Her responsibilities will include managing the revenue cycle, practice management, training and education, engagement, and onboarding of community physicians who are aligned with or become employed by Johns Hopkins. Kim will also collaborate with the Office of Managed Care Contracting, and will be the primary lead for assessing and implementing telemedicine in the ambulatory setting and for Access Services.

Kim comes to us from Indiana University, where she was the chief operating officer for Indiana University Health Physicians, a 1,500-physician multispecialty group practice in Indianapolis that is integrated with Indiana University Health. In that role, she brought together over 50 private groups and academic departments, oversaw practice operations in over 150 locations and physician services in 11 hospitals, and helped develop a centralized call center focused on single-call resolution. Under her leadership, deployment of the electronic medical record was able to achieve Meaningful Use over the past several years.

Kim received her bachelor's degree from Purdue University. After earning her master's degree in health administration from Indiana University, she began her association with its medical school as an administrator for the university's obstetrics and gynecology department.

She is a fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the chair of the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Administrative Officer Leadership Council within the American Medical Group Association. Kim and her husband, Jim, who works in aerospace sales, are moving to Baltimore this spring.

I would like to thank the members of our search committee and the many people who participated in the interview process for the position.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Kim and Jim to Johns Hopkins.

Sincerely,

William A. Baumgartner, M.D.
The Vincent L. Gott Professor
Senior Vice President, Johns Hopkins Medicine
Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs
