David Graham Named Director of the Molecular Determinants Core at All Children's Hospital

Dear Colleagues:

All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine is transforming into a leading academic pediatric medical center focused on delivering high-value and leading-edge care. A key priority has been establishing a Molecular Determinants Center and Core at All Children's Hospital to aid in our quest for discovering more precise and effective care for children. We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a comprehensive three-year search for a director to establish and lead the Johns Hopkins Medicine Molecular Determinants Core at All Children's Hospital.

The development of the Molecular Determinants Core will enable investigators to utilize clinical data and specimens to discover the molecular determinants of health outcomes using state-of-the-art "omics" technologies and techniques. David Graham, an associate professor of molecular and comparative pathobiology at the school of medicine, will serve as the director of the Molecular Determinants Core, effective July 1, 2015. Dr. Graham, currently the executive director of the Center for Resources in Integrative Biology (CRIB) at Johns Hopkins, was selected by a faculty search committee chaired by Jerry Hart to lead this new initiative. Dr. Graham brings a strong track record in investigation of HIV- and SIV-induced disease, and extensive experience in the application of mass spectrometry-based "omics" approaches to the study of complex diseases and delivery of precision medicine.

Dr. Graham joined the school of medicine faculty in 2004 after earning a Ph.D. from the Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology Training Program at Johns Hopkins. He assumed a leadership role with CRIB in 2012 and has guided its growth from a nascent center to one responsible for anchoring several large research grants and contracts. CRIB will transition to the All Children's Hospital campus in St. Petersburg, Florida, and will maintain its core service and expertise functions for investigators across Johns Hopkins, with a touchdown site at the school of medicine campus in Baltimore. The Molecular Determinants Core and CRIB will provide metabolomics, lipidomics and proteomics capabilities, as well as the bioinformatics expertise necessary for complex omics-based data analyses. Dr. Graham will divide his time between St. Petersburg and Baltimore.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Graham on his new role as we welcome him to St. Petersburg.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Ellen, M.D.
President and Physician-in-Chief, All Children's Hospital
Vice Dean and Professor of Pediatrics

Antony Rosen, M.B. Ch.B., B.Sc.
