Four New Vice Presidents in the Johns Hopkins Health System's Finance Division

To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the promotions of four colleagues within the Johns Hopkins Health System who will help advance our $7.7 billion enterprise as we continue to find ways to create sustainable financial success and continuous performance improvement.

Ed Beranek is now the vice president of revenue management and reimbursement, Sandra Johnson has been named vice president of revenue cycle management, Tom Trzcinski is the new vice president of finance and the health system's treasurer, and Mike Larson was appointed vice president of finance and corporate controller of the health system.

Ed's experience of 26 years will help us in our goal to find new sources of revenue and cost savings. His background will go a long way in his responsibility to manage regulatory reporting and compliance with the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission.

Sandra brings more than 23 years of experience in the overall strategy, alignment, execution and delivery of patient revenue. In her new role, she will oversee the management of claims processing, payment and revenue generation for the entire health system.

Tom's 30 years of expertise will be key to helping us accomplish our performance goals. He most notably spearheaded the Johns Hopkins Health System's 10-year capital and operating plan, an achievement that has been vital to our institution's finances. His experience will be essential in his role of managing the banking, cash flow and insurance systems for the enterprise.

As we focus on improving our operating efficiencies, Mike's 35 years of experience in multiple health systems and his leadership in performance strategies will be invaluable in his new dual role. He will direct the financial operations of Johns Hopkins HealthCare and oversee the accounting and reporting policies and procedures for the health system.

Please join me in congratulating my colleagues on their new roles.

Sincerely,

Ronald J. Werthman
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Johns Hopkins Medicine
Chief Financial Officer, School of Medicine
