Johns Hopkins Health System Announces All-New Brand Identity for Nobilant

Dear Colleagues,

Creating a new brand takes a lot of time and hard work. Beyond establishing a brand name and logo, branding encompasses everything about a company's unique identity. It tells a story that people will remember, and it helps drive engagement. Over the past year, our colleagues in supply chain have been on this exciting journey of developing a brand for Nobilant, the commercial supply chain management organization formed in January 2015.

Today, I'm pleased to announce the launch of Nobilant's complete brand identity. Selected from nearly 100 contenders, the name Nobilant was inspired by a Baltimore newspaper headline published when The Johns Hopkins Hospital first opened, saying, "Its Aim Is Noble." The name also alludes to a mission-driven organization.

Nobilant's mission is to maximize value for its health care provider members by increasing efficiencies and aggregated cost savings through supply chain integration while working to improve patient outcomes through the selection of quality goods and services. As a founding member and majority owner of Nobilant, the Johns Hopkins Health System has aligned this mission with our supply chain transformation and performance strategic priority.

With a twist on the infinity symbol, Nobilant's distinctive visual identity originated from the concept of endlessness, as in the endless possibilities or tailored solutions that the organization can provide to its members.

Johns Hopkins Health System has already benefited from Nobilant's supply chain management solutions, including the execution of new contracts for beds and mattresses, and the service and maintenance of printing devices. Both contracts are expected to deliver significant cost savings. More importantly, the company's focus on clinician involvement in the vetting process assures us that the beds and mattresses will help improve patient care. And due to the vast research and negotiation expertise of Nobilant's sourcing staff, we will enhance our print capabilities and reduce our environmental footprint.

With the launch of the brand, Nobilant enters the health care market with a strategic focus on transforming supply chain management for health care providers by:

  • targeting members' comprehensive nonlabor spend to improve savings opportunities.
  • cultivating active clinician collaboration, including partnering with the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality to support favorable patient outcomes and effective product utilization.
  • fostering a member-inclusive approach to sourcing strategy to strengthen member value and supplier partnerships.
  • focusing on total cost of ownership of products and services to assess value beyond price.
  • contracting on national, regional and local levels to expand breadth of goods and services.

Please join me in congratulating the Nobilant and the Johns Hopkins Health System team members for the dedication and talent it took to launch this progressive brand. Special recognition goes to our colleagues with the Johns Hopkins Medicine Institutional Internal Communications Department for their guidance and direction throughout this branding effort. We look forward to sharing more stories in the future about how Nobilant is advancing supply chain management for our institution and beyond.

Sincerely,

Ron Werthman
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Johns Hopkins Medicine
Chief Financial Officer, School of Medicine
