Encourage Your Team to Participate in This Year's Employee Engagement Survey

To Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System Corporation administrators, directors and managers

Dear Colleagues,

I'm excited to announce that the 2017 Employee Engagement Survey is just weeks away. The Gallup Organization will again administer the survey, which takes place from March 6 through March 26, and we invite—and encourage— all Johns Hopkins Health System employees to participate.

There is no doubt that an engaged workforce is essential to the success of an organization. How can we improve our work environment if we don't ask employees what they think? The survey is confidential and gives employees a channel to share honest feedback. The results from this survey give management and teams a report of their successes and areas for opportunity and continual improvement.

Once again, the survey consists of 31 questions on accountability, growth, respect, safety and diversity. Please take the time before the start of the survey to review these questions with your team so they understand how their responses will guide us in making changes.

The Employee Engagement website has a variety of tools—such as videos, user guides, managers' toolkits and a list of the questions—to help you navigate the survey process. Please take advantage of these resources.

Employees want to feel that their voices are heard. So while the survey is important, the follow-up and conversations you have with your teams about the questions and the results is even more important.

Everyone plays a role in engagement, and as a manager your role is crucial. Thank you for your continued commitment to this important initiative, so we can be an even more cohesive, patient-centered, mission-driven workforce.

Sincerely,

Inez Stewart
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Johns Hopkins Medicine
Johns Hopkins Health System
