Details	“From West Africa to a U.S. Biocontainment Unit—Lessons Learned from Ebola” features guest speakers William Fischer and Ian Crozier, who will each speak about their first-hand encounters with the Ebola virus during their travels in Africa. Fischer is a Johns Hopkins-trained pulmonary and critical care physician currently on faculty at the University of North Carolina. He is working to establish research protocols in West Africa to study Ebola treatments and to better understand the post-Ebola syndrome in survivors, like his co-presenter Ian Crozier. Crozier was the nation’s third Ebola patient, receiving treatment in the biocontainment unit at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Called the potentially sickest Ebola survivor ever, his experience has informed many of the critical care interventions currently employed for Ebola patients in highly resourced environments. The presentation is first in a speaker series hosted by the Department of Medicine and the new Johns Hopkins Biocontainment Unit. Following the presentation, there will be an informal reception.
