Details The Daily Record recognized Kristian Henderson-Hayes, now an administrator for operations support and medical affairs, on the “20 in Their Twenties” list. The awards recognize young professionals whose creativity and entrepreneurial spirit are making an impact within the state of Maryland.

Formerly the assistant director of general services at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Hayes has been instrumental in The Johns Hopkins Hospital's reduction in regulated medical waste by 57 percent since 2011, which she attributes to a hospitalwide awareness campaign to educate staff on differences in types of waste and how to dispose of them properly. Read an article about this in the April issue of Dome.

The 2015 list consists of 29 winners, including Hayes, who were selected on the basis of their professional accomplishments, community involvement and the impact of their achievements. The program, which began in 2011, celebrates the best and brightest under 30 who may have not earned their first million but whose creativity and spirit are already making significant contributions to the state.

The 20 in Their Twenties awards are judged by past honorees and will be presented during a reception on June 24.

“The 20 in Their Twenties honorees are part of a new generation of leaders who are highly motivated, socially conscious and expert multitaskers who incorporate technology and community building into all aspects of their lives,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “While they have been in the workplace for only a decade or less, they are making an impact, and The Daily Record is pleased to honor their achievements.”

Previous Johns Hopkins 20 in Their Twenties honorees also include Darren Brownlee, clinical operations manager for the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Surgery (2014) and Abby Ferretti, art content specialist for Johns Hopkins Medicine Marketing and Communications (2013).
