Details Johns Hopkins Security, Office of Parking and Transportation, would like to remind East Baltimore students, faculty and staff of the services available to them. We would like to remind some and inform others that there is ample pre-taxed permit parking available on campus at both the Ashland and Church garages with free shuttle service to and from both. We encourage those of you who do not wish to consider enrolling for available assigned permit parking to pull a ticket and park daily as needed in the Washington or Caroline garages. There is also satellite parking available at two separate locations east and west of the campus. Both satellites are within one mile of the campus, and free shuttle service is provided to and from the East Baltimore Campus.

Please see below for details on parking option at the East Baltimore campus, including important information often overlooked by permit parkers. Information about parking is also available online.

How To Sign Up for Permit Parking
Parking permits must always be purchased in person at the Parking Office. The Parking Office is located at 600 N. Wolfe Street in Harvey 108 with the ID Office, and they are open M-F, 8am-4pm (phone: 410-955-5333). When signing up for permit parking, the first month’s payment is always due on the day of sign-up. If applicable, you can sign up for payroll deductions at the time of sign-up, and these will kick in the following month (if payroll deductions do not apply, future monthly payments must be mailed in or hand-delivered to the Parking Office by/before your due date each month).

Wait lists are available for the following garages:
- McElderry Garage (1501 McElderry St.): This garage is located in the JH Outpatient Center circle and is also referred to as the Outpatient Center garage or the JHOC garage. Open 24/7.
- Caroline Garage (1501 E. Monument St.): This garage is located in the JH Outpatient Center circle (nearest the Armstrong Bldg.). Open 24 hours Mon-Friday; closed weekends and JHH holidays.

Parking Wait Lists
To be placed on a wait list, email JHMI_Parking@jhmi.edu with “Wait List” noted in the subject field of your email. In the body of the email, include your name, your complete ID badge # (######-#), your email address, your current garage assignment (if any), and the garage(s) you wish to be placed in line for. Due to wait list email volumes, all emails are kept in queue and all are added per the date/time stamp of the emailed request. Please note that all JHMI garages share space with patients, visitors, staff and students, and this makes wait list movement and extremely slow process. Garage offers are made via email. We ask everyone to avoid placing themselves on wait lists for garages they are not sure about.

PERMIT PARKERS TAKE NOTE (Important items you should know
Check Your Pay-Stubs
Permit Parkers who pay for monthly parking through automatic payroll deductions should check their paystubs every payday to make sure that parking fees are being deducted. Certain employment changes within and between Hopkins entities may cause your auto-payments to be disrupted.

Always Contact the Parking Office
-Job Changes — If you change positions within the Hopkins enterprise, your parking deductions may automatically stop as JH Payroll processes the change. As a result, the Parking Office will think that your employment was terminated and cancel your parking and/or charge you for arrearages.
-Name Change
-Parking LOA (More Information Below)
-Parking Cancellation (More Information Below)

Parking LOA (Leave of Absence)
If you will be absent from the East Baltimore medical campus for an extended period, you may *qualify for Parking LOA. The LOA & Rotation Form must be submitted in person or via fax to the Parking Office prior to departure. Retro-submissions are not accepted.
Returning from LOA
Parkers must submit a Return From Leave of Absence/Rotation Form to the Parking Office to re-activate their parking.
*Kennedy Krieger and Fallsway Satellite Lot Parkers are excluded from LOA or Rotation.

BASE ACCESS/FREE PARKING PERIODS
ON CAMPUS: M – F, 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. ALL DAY: Sat/Sun/JHH Holidays
*Those who are not signed up as monthly permit parkers must register their ID Badges with the Parking Office for Base Access. The time frames for Base Access are weekdays from 4:00pm-8:30am, and all day on weekends and JHH holidays.

Note: Students, faculty and staff should be mindful to exit by/before 8:30 a.m. on weekdays (if parking under Base Access in the Orleans or McElderry garages) in order to ensure spaces are available for patients.

Staff/Students who pull a ticket during Base Access times instead of swiping will be charged for time parked. Staff/Students must register their ID Badge with the Parking Office at Harvey 108 for Base Access.

Carpool Parking
A carpool card replaces the ID badge as the parking pass. The carpool pass must be used to obtain access to the pre-assigned parking facility.

Because only one carpool pass can be issued per group, it is the responsibility of the members to work out the logistics of passing the card between themselves on alternate driving days.

Also, an online carpool matching service is available for Johns Hopkins employees/students at: carpoolworld.com/hopkinsmedicine.
