Sept. 28, 2015: Retirement Plan Transition to Transamerica Retirement Solutions

Dear Colleagues:

Providing a retirement plan that can help you save for the future and supplement your income when you retire is an important component of Johns Hopkins Medicine's benefits package. We recently conducted a comprehensive review of the providers for the multiple retirement plans offered across Johns Hopkins Medicine and determined that centralizing all the plans offered under one plan provider creates efficiencies across the institution. It also helps reduce fees and ensures that our retirement plans offer the best possible services and benefits to all of our staff members. Transamerica Retirement Solutions—part of the Transamerica group of companies, one of the world's leading financial services companies—has been selected as our retirement plan provider.

Effective Jan. 1, 2016, the retirement plans for the following Johns Hopkins Medicine entities will be transferred from the current plan provider to Transamerica Retirement Solutions: The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Howard County General Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine International, Johns Hopkins HealthCare, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, the Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, the Johns Hopkins Medical Management Corporation and The Center for Ambulatory Surgery, Inc. All Children's Hospital and Suburban Hospital employees have benefited from Transamerica's expertise for several years, and we are pleased to extend their skill to the majority of our staff members.

One benefit of transferring our retirement plans to Transamerica is their ability to help you understand—in simple language—how you can set your retirement savings goals, and how to get there. They offer services, education and an overall retirement planning experience dedicated to making sure you know how to plan for the retirement you've always wanted.

Here are a few of the benefits and services offered by Transamerica Retirement Solutions:

  • Automated tools and services for creating and improving your strategy. You'll have access to an easy-to-use website, with practical, interactive saving and investing resources that help you set smart goals, check your progress in real time, and make changes—if you need them—to be better prepared for retirement.
  • Information and education to help you make decisions with confidence. You'll get award-winning customer service and education that makes retirement planning easy to understand and navigate.  Experts will keep you engaged during the entire retirement planning process, helping you to understand how to achieve your savings goals.
  • Investment choices. You'll have access to a variety of fund families that enable you to diversify across all asset classes, based on your personal profile. Whether you want to build your own investment mix or prefer a one-step solution, Transamerica can help.

What you need to do
The move to Transamerica Retirement Solutions has been designed to be as easy as possible. Your existing retirement account will transfer automatically to Transamerica, and you will continue saving and investing for retirement without interruption.
